below 400$

Following with the story of the new ultraportable series one friend of mine told me that he would prefers the new asus Eee

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASUS_Eee_PC

This laptop is supposed to cost 200$ in USA but for spain the price I have found is 384€. I let you to make the euro to dollar change.

Looks good but maybe 4 to 8 Gb is not enough for a device like this. Also it lacks the waited visible-at-sunlight-screen.

Definitely there is a new category on the market for <400$ devices. Not PDA not Laptop, something in the middle. Maybe also we coul put ipod touch in this category (the hacked one of course…)

PC $100 and eBook Readers.

PC $100 (which at the the end has been pc$200)  is now available to customers through the initiative one laptop per child with the name XO

The idea is that you pay 2 computers and give one to the 3rd world and one for you. So the final price is 400$. What I dont understand is why there is a time restriction to buy them.

Its best feature is the low power screen which is readable at sun light. This reduces the power consumption and allows to read books directly on the screen.

The problem is that if you are form outside US you need a US address for shipping to have one. So its not possible for me to buy one. I think that this distribuition scheme doesn’t make any sense.

Another device wich has a lot of similarities with XO is the new Amazon Reader which shares the price (399$) and the screen concept. The approach made by amazon is very similar to Apple’s one with iPods. The device is completely closed so you are Tied to Amazons book seller service. It also shares the proble that they are not available outside US.

I think that europe should wait for having a true eBook Reader.

doing some “processing

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

I have discovered this programming language and environment called processing.

It has some pretty cool features and a huge set of atonishing examples. It is designed as a language for programming graphics and animations. The results can be exported to an applet or to an stand-alone app.
Here is my dragon curve fractal done with processing.
